Man killed in Dunn County fire is identified

UPDATE: The owner and occupant of a Dunn County home that started on fire Dec. 30 was killed. He is identified as 84-year-old Wallace Cutting.

An autopsy was conducted and no injuries were found and there was nothing that indicated any foul play. 

On December 30, 2017 at 4:53 p.m. the Dunn County dispatch received a 911 call reporting a house fire in the Town of Grant. The Colfax Fire Department and Dunn County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the residence on CTY Rd W.  Mutual aid was requested from numerous local Fire Departments.


Dunn County (WQOW)- A man is dead after his house started on fire Saturday afternoon.

On December 30, 2017 at 4:53 p.m. the Dunn County dispatch received a 911 call reporting a house fire in the Town of Grant. The Colfax Fire Department and Dunn County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the residence on CTY Rd W.  Mutual aid was requested from numerous local Fire Departments.

The occupant of the residence was located within the house by firefighters and was removed from the house.  The adult male was dead. No one else lived there.

At this time the name of the victim is not being released so that family members can be notified.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office will continue to investigate  the  circumstances regarding  the death and cause of the fire.
