$800M sparks lottery fever in the Chippewa Valley

Eau Claire (WQOW) - With Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots reaching nearly $800 million combined, lottery fever is spreading across the Chippewa Valley.

"The amounts are high so, I mean, it doesn't hurt to dream I guess," said Patti Behlke of Eau Claire.

On Tuesday, Mega Millions players have a chance at a $343 million jackpot. The Powerball sits at $440 million for Wednesday, Jan. 3.

News 18 spoke to a Kwik Trip employee, who said she's caught lottery fever herself.

"Oh, Kwik Trip has been very busy with lottery tickets the last few days, actually," Cherish Marceau said. "I would say probably every other transaction at least (is) a lottery ticket."

Both drawings are at 10 p.m. Tickets need to be bought by 9 p.m. As always, we'll have the winning numbers for Mega Millions and Powerball Tuesday and Wednesday in our 10 p.m. newscasts.

Good luck, gamblers.
