UPDATE: Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said a man found dead in a wooded area near Chetek had a camp set up near where he was found.
Fitzgerald said he believes Joseph Moen, 49, of Chetek went missing on December 24. He was not reported missing until December 27. The sheriff said the department has a few tips about sightings prior to Moen's death. They are following up on the tips to learn more about the case.
Fitzgerald said Moen was not dressed appropriately, and he is not sure if drugs or alcohol are involved.
Police said the cause of death appears to be hypothermia, but an autopsy is being conducted by the Barron County Medical Examiner's office.

Barron County (WQOW) - The Barron County Sheriff's Department said Joseph Moen, 49, of Chetek, was found dead in a wooded area near Chetek on Wednesday.
Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said the department was following up on a missing person case from December 27, 2017, and was checking the area Moen was last seen when they found his body.
Police said the cause of death appears to be hypothermia, but an autopsy is being conducted by the Barron County Medical Examiner's office. No foul play is suspected at this time.
