Eau Claire (WQOW)- It's a busy time of year for car washes, especially those that can stay open in bitter cold.
Several car washes in the Eau Claire area have to shut down once it gets too cold, but at Clean 'N' Classy Car Wash in Eau Claire, employees said their all-indoor facility allows them to operate whatever the weather. Staff said since the day after Christmas, they have washed more than 2,000 cars. Most customers, staff said, come in looking to get the salt off their vehicle to keep it from rusting.
"We actually have a lot of people come in, just wanting the underbody in general, because everyone usually wants to get that bottom sprayed out so the salt doesn't build up, or the sand," said Clean 'N' Classy Car Wash Manager Dillon Schneider. "We actually have a rust inhibitor in the underbody, so it kind of helps spray out and prevents salt build up in there."
Despite the constant flow of customers, crews said Thursday it was a relatively slow morning at the car wash, sometimes the line stretches all the way to the road. Still, staff said their washer can hold up to eight cars at once, so customers usually don't have to wait longer than 10 to 15 minutes.
