Eau Claire (WQOW) - The building that houses Hope Gospel Mission in downtown Eau Claire has a new owner.
Eli Rupnow, owner of a management company in Minnesota, confirmed to News 18 Monday that he finalized his purchase of the approximately 100-year-old building last week. The price was $425,000.
Rupnow said Hope Gospel Mission will remain in the building for at least another year, as they move forward with building a new men's facility on the city's west side near the Hope Gospel Mission Bargain Store.
Rupnow said he has no concrete plans for the building, but options include renovating and renting out the top floor for office space or apartments. He said the ground floor could be converted into retail space, or would be ideal for a riverside restaurant.
A spokesman for Hope Gospel Mission told us they plan to kick off their public fundraising campaign for their new building next month.
