Gas prices are going up, but the same cannot be said for gasoline discounts. News 18 did some digging to find out what discounts are offered in Eau Claire.
On Monday, people at the pump told News 18 that the lack of discounts is really disappointing. Gordy's Market used to offer "Pump Perks", but since they closed, that void has not been filled.
News 18 spoke with Kwik Trip, Mega! Holiday and Woodman's, but found only a few small discounts for consumers. A Kwik Trip rewards card offers a three cent discount per gallon of gas. Holiday Station Stores offer five cents off every gallon if you have a smart saving credit card. And Woodman's doesn't offer any gas discounts.
We also spoke with staff at Festival Foods. They said they don't plan to continue Gordy's partnership with Mega Co-op gas stations.
"It's still $2.50 or above, and you just say 'Wow, that is too much'. So, we have come to accept a level of prices going up too high," said Clifton Sorenson of Eau Claire.
According to Gas Buddy, Wisconsin gasoline prices have risen 2.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.48 as of Monday. One year ago from Monday, the average price was 11.9 cents lower.
News 18 reached out to Gordy's Market officials to ask if they plan to keep their "Pump Perks" with their Chippewa Falls stores. We have yet to hear back.
