Volunteers started tearing down the lights at Christmas Village in Irvine Park on Monday.
The start of the tear down was pushed back because of the recent cold streak. Staff with Chippewa Falls Parks and Rec Department said it will take a week to dismantle and take down the hundreds of thousands of lights and displays. Staff said Monday's warmer weather helped bring in a number of volunteers.
This week's efforts are only phase one. Phase two, which staff plan to start next week, includes testing and checking all lights and electrical equipment. They are once again asking for volunteers to help with that effort. If you'd like to pitch in, you can click on this link or call the Chippewa Falls Parks and Rec Department at (715) 723-0051
