Chippewa Falls Main Street will host its annual Paint the Town Red event on February 22 with help from local merchants and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital. The night will feature giveaways, food, and refreshments from local businesses, and representatives from St. Joseph’s will operate multiple booths at which you can take advantage of free screenings and consultations from 4 to 7 p.m.
“Our colleagues enjoy interacting directly with people outside of a clinical setting,” says Michele Paquette, Communications and Marketing Specialist at HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals. “We offer blood pressure screenings, demonstrations, and education on various topics. We try to add new things every year.”
One of the event’s busiest stops is the Advance Directives booth, where health professionals hand out informational packets and can provide witness signatures to complete documents for people who are ready to put an advance directive in place. “Advance directives aren’t just for older people,” Paquette says. “Everyone over the age of 18 should have one to ensure that their care preferences are known in the event they cannot speak for themselves.”
Other popular topics include heart health and women’s health. You can also address any other concerns you may have at the “Ask the Doc” booth. Enjoy a brisk winter night of shopping, people-watching, and learning more about how to be healthier in 2018.
