Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Saturday's snowy weather certainly made a mess of the roads.
There were a number of crashes on Highway 53 Saturday morning because of poor conditions, forcing the Department of Transportation to close south 53 at the North Crossing for a little more than an hour.
From about 7:00 a.m until nearly 6:00 p.m., the Wisconsin State Patrol told News 18 troopers with the Eau Claire post responded to 27 run-offs and 17 crashes. They said troopers from the Spooner post were called to at least two crashes.
Authorities said no one was seriously hurt in any of the crashes. But they're asking drivers to give themselves plenty of time and space to get where they're going safely.
