Out-of-state tuition hikes at UWEC and UW-Stout approved by committee, full vote Friday

UPDATE: A plan to raise tuition for some students at UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout will be up for a vote Friday.

Thursday, the Board of Regents Finance Committee approved the plan. The full Board of Regents will vote on it Friday.

The plan would impact non-resident students at UWEC, Stout and UW-Milwaukee.

Under the plan, non-resident undergraduate students at UWEC would see tuition go up by more than $350, and grad students $430. At UW-Stout, non-resident graduate students would see an increase of nearly $300. UW-Milwaukee non-resident graduate business school tuition would go up by nearly $540.

If passed, officials said the changes would help generate $186,000 in revenue for the three schools.

(WQOW) - It could become more expensive to attend UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout.

UW System officials are considering raising tuition at the two universities, as well as UW-Milwaukee, starting next year.

The Board of Regents Finance Committee will vote on the plan Thursday, making way for a full Board of Regents vote on Friday in Madison.

Under the plan, non-resident undergraduate students at UWEC would see tuition go up by more than $350, and grad students $430. At UW-Stout, non-resident graduate students would see an increase of nearly $300. UW-Milwaukee non-resident graduate business school tuition would go up by nearly $540.

The changes would help generate $186,000 in revenue for the three schools.
