Eau Claire (WQOW) - The Community Table serves thousands of meals every year, and to do that, they need commercial-grade appliances.
With daily use, and regular maintenance, The Community Table's stove and oven has reached its end. The Chippewa Valley After Hours Rotary, and many in the community, gave the organization a $1,000 grant for a new one.
The Community Table's Executive Director, Michelle Koehn, said a new oven is a necessity for all the meals they provide. That's why it's worth reaching out to the community when something like this comes up.
"So, previously The Community Table has appealed to the community to replace large items such as a refrigerator. We recently just has to replace a stove and oven, and you know, the next big item for us will likely be a dishwasher. Again, it's really just because we serve 150 guests, some days at our peak we can serve up to 300 individuals," Koehn said.
The President of the Chippewa Valley After Hours Rotary Club, Andy Neborak, said they could help thanks to fundraising at the Taste of the Valley; so that's how you may have contributed.
There's also a reason the Rotary chose The Community Table.
"We kind of have similar missions," Neborak said. "Our mission in the Chippewa Valley is to eradicate hunger, so we work with a lot of different organizations that help us fulfill that mission."
Benedict Refrigeration will install the new stove-oven for free.
