Eau Claire (WQOW) - At the Eau Claire City Council meeting Monday, February 12, council members will learn more about an update on bus fares in Eau Claire.
Last November, the goal was to vote on a plan to raise bus fares by a quarter. They tabled the issue because city council members couldn't agree on how to keep bus fares lower for low-income people in the city.
Eau Claire's City Manager, Dale Peters, has been exploring new solutions according to Tom Wagener, Eau Claire Transit manager.
Peters has a plan to charge fares based on an individuals income. So, the more you make, the more you would have to pay to ride on the bus.
Wagener said the city manager will present the plan to council at Monday's meeting. Wagener said the plan is still in its initial phases and that they hope to nail down details by March 1.
