La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -- A La Crosse resident aims to be a primary challenger against U.S. Representative Ron Kind this spring.
Juliet Germanotta says that a lack of competition over kind's congressional seat since he took office in 1997 creates a lack of results in Washington.
A self-identifying democratic-socialist living in La Crosse since 2012, Germanotta would use Kind's congressional seat to better represent the people of Wisconsin's third district.
"I am capable of holding this seat," Germanotta describes, "and I am capable of fighting for the citizens of this district, because I am a citizen of this district and I know first hand what goes on in this district, and I want to do everything in my power to make it better."
In order for Germanotta's name to be on this year's primary, she needs at least 1,000 valid signatures between April and June.
Representative Kind has not officially announced a campaign as of this time.
