Eau Claire (WQOW) - Eau Claire basketball rivals fought together Monday for cancer patients.
Last month, Altoona and Regis girls hoops teams hosted a "Coaches versus Cancer" game to support cancer patients at the Eau Claire Marshfield Clinic Cancer Center.
The teams helped raise money through ticket sales, fan donations and proceeds from a 50/50 raffle.
More than $1,300 was raised in the effort, and Monday the check was presented to Marshfield Clinic.
"They might be playing against each other, and what I think is cool is that it's Altoona versus Regis, but they've came together to take care of their family, their family's friends, their relatives, by raising some funds to take care of their own in their own community," said Marshfield Cancer Center Director Criss Gutsch.
The money goes directly toward patients' traveling costs through gas cards, rides and basic necessities not covered by insurance.
