Eau Claire (WQOW) - A military veteran is gunning for Congressman Sean Duffy's seat.
Margaret Engebretson made her official announcement Monday in Superior. She spent more than two decades in the service, including time with the 148th Fighter Wing. Since then, she has been an attorney in the Balsam Lake area.
Tuesday, Engebretson stopped by News 18. She said she had never considered running for office prior to 2016, but the rhetoric following the election sparked her interest in serving her community.
"I want to, and I think a lot of people want to, progress and thrive and move forward," Engebretson said. "I believe the vision and policy choice that was being advocated at the time was not in that direction."
Engebretson said if she is elected, her number one priority would be enacting universal health care.
Congressman Sean Duffy's office confirmed he will seek a 5th term in November.
