Eau Claire police investigate human trafficking case

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Eau Claire police are investigating another suspected case of human trafficking.

The latest case is a result of a traffic stop early Monday morning at the intersection of Hastings Way and Birch Street.  Officer Bridget Coit told News 18 it happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday. Because the investigation is not yet complete, she declined to say anything else about it. She would not say if the person involved was male or female, or the person's age.

It was just last week Attorney General Brad Schimel was in St. Croix County to announce a series of human trafficking arrests tied to the Super Bowl in Minneapolis. Law enforcement agencies stepped up their enforcement in the week preceding the game because the Super Bowl often attracts human traffickers.
