Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Hundreds of volunteers helped spruce up our city on Saturday.
It was all part of the Amazing Eau Claire Clean Up, an effort to help city staff keep the community looking sharp. Officials told News 18, Spring is the best time of year to do it because the snow has melted, leaving a lot of trash and debris to pick up. Organizers said even though this event was dedicated to cleaning up, you can help out every day.
"If you're walking through a park, or along a trail, even taking a little garbage bag with you and picking up some trash, it makes a big difference," said Community Services Supervisor, John Lofgren. "It's a little thing that makes a really big difference. You know, like that old ad campaign, 'Pitch In', it makes a big difference for everyone in the community how things look."
Lofgren also said this year, about 450 volunteers were spread across Eau Claire. He said it's great to see how involved people are in the community.
