Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Saturday was the first day for the Eau Claire Downtown Farmers Market.
People were up early for the first farmers market of 2018. The event offers local foods and products, which officials say is a positive thing for everyone in Eau Claire because you get to talk directly to the farmers, and it keeps money in our community. Market manager Deidra Barrickman told News 18 if you've never been to the farmers market, there's no better time than now.
"There's a lot of variety and diversity in the products. We are a producers-only market, so everything that you're seeing, the person behind the table has produced, which I think really is a positive thing about our market," said Barrickman. "You'll be able to socialize with people, have good eats and bring a lot of wonderful things home."
The Eau Claire Downtown Farmers Market is open just Saturdays in May, but starting in June it's open Wednesday mornings, Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
