Eau Claire (WQOW) -- A first of its kind philanthropy event was end in Eau Claire Tuesday night.
The group, 100 Women Who Care Eau Claire held a night of giving on Grand Avenue. The goal of the group is to get 100 women, or more, to donate $100 apiece to a local non-profit organization.
"Charities each have five minutes to pitch to us their event, so it's kind of like philanthropy meets Shark Tank. So they pitch their ideas, we as a group of 100+ women vote on that charity and within an hour we will present $10,000 or more dollars based on the membership at the time," said Kendra Weber, a founding member of the group.
Tuesday, three different group made those pitches: the Beacon House, the Community Table and the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley. In the end, the Beacon House was chosen presented with a check for $15,000.
While this is the first-ever event for the group, they hope to host four events like this a year.
