Eau Claire (WQOW)- Students from South Middle School spent part of their day exploring career options around Eau Claire.
The Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce coordinated the event, so students could get a taste of career opportunities in the Chippewa Valley.
Over a 100 eighth graders spent a couple hours at one business they were particularly interested in.
They had many options to choose from like education, health care, engineering and animal science.
Over at Marshfield Clinic,18 students were able to learn about ultrasounds, suturing and casting.
If the students like what they learned, they learn to start making decisions to get them closer to that career.
"They have mapped out their four year schooling for high school. They are making connections to what they want to do as a profession and seeing what the community has to offer as professions within our own community," said Lana Leonard, a instructional coach at South Middle School.
This is the first year middle schoolers have had the opportunity to explore different career fields.
