Chippewa Falls (WQOW) -- Hundreds of area students were in Chippewa Falls Wednesday, to go back in time and learn about the area's history.
It's all part of the Past Passed Here event, happening in Allen Park. The event focuses on Chippewa Valley History, primarily lumbering and the French Fur Trade era. Jim Schuh has organized the Past Passed Here for about 15 years. He told News 18 its a great way for kids to get out of the classroom and do hands-on learning of area history in the 1700 and 1800s.
"The Chippewa County Historical Society, one of our goals is to help share the local history of the area, and I think it's very important for, especially younger people to realize what's happened here in years gone by," said Schuh.
Schuh also said hundreds of area students will be visiting Thursday and Friday morning, then the event will be open to the public in the evening. It's also open all day Saturday and Sunday.
