On Sunday, mothers from around the nation were recognized for all that they do. News 18 spoke with some local moms and their families who celebrated Mother's Day in Eau Claire.
"I think Mother's Day is a great way to celebrate how much your mother does for you and how it's so important to have her in your life," said Megan Edland of Chippewa Falls. "She means a lot to me. She's always been my role model since I was little."
Edland and her parents visited Down to Earth for a few Mother's Day gifts, pots and plants for their front yard. Edland and her mother also planned to bike the Old Abe State Trail on Sunday and visit Cornell for some ice cream.
Karin Jarvise of Eau Claire brought her family out for some brunch at The Lakely.
"It's my mom's special day," said Jarvise.
"It reminds me of the long line of women that I've come from, that were strong women," said Diane Benson, mother of Jarvise. "And I really appreciate them. And I want to emulate them and be like them. And I'm thrilled to have a daughter to share it with."
Other mothers attended Cheers Pablo's Mother's Day painting event.
"It means celebrating the person who raised me and supported me my whole life and just always was there for me," said Rafael Ponty. "My sister came from the cities to come and visit, and this was something that we haven't really done together. So, it's kind of a creative opportunity."
