Chippewa County (WQOW) --
One person was killed and another arrested after a two-vehicle crash in the town of Sigel early Sunday morning.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office was called to intersection of CTH X and CTH XX at about 1:15 a.m. Authorities said one vehicle was heading west on 'X' when another vehicle turned out in front of it.

They said the first vehicle hit the second on its passenger's side, causing it to flip onto its driver's side and pinning one of the passengers under it. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials do not believe that passenger was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, though one of the drivers was suspected of being under the influence and was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

No one involved in the crash has been identified at this time.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office said the crash is still being investigated and further charges could be filed pending the outcome of that investigation.
