Two men recognized for life-saving efforts in Chippewa County

Chippewa County (WQOW) - Two members of the law enforcement community are being recognized for their life-saving efforts last fall.

Nathan Steber, an investigator with Two Rivers police, and his dad Rob Steber, a retired deputy, stopped at the Eau Claire Travel Center on October 27, 2017 on their way out of town on a hunting trip.

That's when they noticed a car in a retention pond, with an 88-year-old woman trapped inside. The two broke jumped into the pond and broke a window in the car. They were able to get the woman out.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office formally recognized both men for their heroic efforts. Both were presented certificates of appreciation on April 7 at a banquet in Two Rivers. The banquet, sponsored by the Two Rivers Kiwanis Club, was held for Investigator Steber who was being honored for Officer of the Year in their area.

Both the Sheriff’s Office and the River Country Coop, owners of the Eau Claire Travel Center,  expressed their appreciation with certificates.
