Eau Claire (WQOW) - Students who do not have money to buy a graduation cap and gown may still be able to participate in their ceremony, thanks to an Eau Claire organization.
Eau Claire Hmong Mutual Assistance Association (ECAHMAA) has been collecting caps and gowns for graduation. After learning from clients that some students skip graduation because of the cost of a basic graduation cap and gown package, which is required for graduation attendance, ECAHMAA began collecting caps and gowns.
A dress rack now sits by the door at ECAHMAA, which has been stocked since the Cap and Gown Recycling Project began. Thanks to generous donors bringing in gowns in varying colors like light blue, purple and black - caps and gowns are still available for students to borrow for graduation.
If you, or somebody you know, is need of a cap and gown due to hardship, you can visit ECAHMAA.
In addition, if you are an upcoming graduate, you can donate your cap and gown after your ceremony.
ECAHMAA is also in need of monetary donations. Funds will be used to acquire yearly tassels, dry clean gowns and purchase an additional dress rack.
To donate, or borrow a cap and gown, you can visit ECAHMAA at 423 Wisconsin St in Eau Claire.
