Eau Claire County (WQOW) - Relatives of an Eau Claire woman and child, who died when their car left the road and went into a pond near Eau Claire, are now suing the owners of the pond.
Shania Felton, who was 20, and her three-year-old daughter Taylor Thompson drowned in July 2016.

Sheriff investigators said her car made an abrupt turn off of Highway 85 and sank in a pond. The cause of the crash was never determined.
Now, Felton's parents and Taylor Thompson's father are suing Huntsinger Farms and its subsidiary, Silver Spring Foods. The wrongful death lawsuit claims they were negligent because they had a duty to ensure the artificial pond would not endanger people who use the highway, or deviate from it.
The suit also claims they had a duty to design and maintain the pond so that anyone who drove into it could get out safely.
The suit does not say how much money is being sought. No court dates are set yet.
It's been a tragic few years for the Felton family. First they lost their daughter and granddaughter in this crash, and earlier this year, the body of their son Brenden was found in the Chippewa River after he disappeared last October.
