Eau Claire (WQOW) - A generous 9-year-old from Eau Claire helped a local non-profit, help others.
Savannah Addis organized a fundraiser at her school and asked fellow students to donated things to spruce up the Community Table's play area, after she noticed the toy area was lacking just that - toys. Addis ended up bringing in hundreds of toys, books and other items for kids who visit the Community Table.
The Community Table's volunteer coordinator, Max Soderberg, told News 18 they're already seeing the positive impact of Savannah's good deed.
"Before the revamp, there'd be a kid back there maybe on his iPad, or just kind of sitting back there while dad eats or dad helps in the kitchen," said Soderberg. "But seeing a kid read a book or play with a stuffed animal or board games is something special."
Soderberg also said he, and the rest of the Community Table is extremely thankful for Savannah's generosity, and it's incredible to see kids as young as nine more focused on giving than receiving.
Addis brought in so many donations that the Community Table said they can't keep it all. So, they will be having a toy drive on Friday, May 25, to gift the toys to kids who need them.
