Eau Claire (WQOW) - Rabbits, reptiles and rats, oh my! The Eau Claire Exotic Pet Expo had it all.
There were more than 100 vendors and 1,000 animals to see. People of all ages could hold, buy and learn about unique birds, lizards, snakes and more.
"There's some real cool stuff here today," said Emily Roberts, organizer. "There's like reticulated pythons. There's hedgehogs, sugar gliders, chinchillas. There's some birds like an umbrella cockatoo and you know, some odds and ends. The leopard gecko's are native to Pakistan, and they eat just live insects in the wild. They are known for laying just two eggs at a time, and they have this very fat tail that they can drop if they feel threatened."
The snake Roberts was holding in her left hand was a spider leopard ball python, native to Africa. They are named the ball python, because they ball up when they are shy.
The Exotic Pet Expo will be back in Eau Claire on August 12.
