Eau Claire (WQOW) - Wisconsin's low unemployment rate means more people are working, but it can be challenging for businesses looking to hire qualified workers.
Festival Foods held a job fair Saturday, seeking 20 to 30 employees for their North Clairemont location. With the state unemployment rate at a record 2.9 percent, businesses like Festival Foods said they've been forced to get creative to fill openings.
"It's challenged us to be a little bit more creative in how we are getting the job opportunities in front of applicants," said Michael Siakpere, store director of Festival Foods North Clairemont location. "I think, especially in a city like Eau Claire where retail is abundant, people have a lot of choices. Really, we just rest on our values and our vision and really try to connect with people. We are a cause driven organization, so we try to connect with cause-driven associates that we want to bring in."
There are a lot of spots to fill because of Festivals recent growth in Eau Claire, with two new locations on North Clairemont and Birch Street.
