Duluth (WQOW) -- The Express saw a late 2-run lead evaporate in the bottom of the 9th, as Eau Claire dropped their 5th straight Northwoods League game to the Huskies in Duluth.
After falling behind early on, Nic Ready gave the Express a boost, tying the game at 3 in the top of the fifth with a two-run home run to left. Duluth retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth, but in the top of the 7th, Eau Claire responded, getting big hits from Devon Garcia, Phillip Sikes, and Tommy Gillman, culminating in a four-run frame. The Express offense amassed 13 hits and 7 runs on the day. Eau Claire was only one out away from their second win of the season, but Auggie Isaacson delivered in the clutch for the Huskies, clearing the bases with a sharp double down the right field line, and driving in the game-winning run, as Duluth walked off with the 8-7 win.
Eau Claire's record now stands at 1-5, with Duluth improving to 3-3. The Express will visit the Thunder Bay Border Cats, Monday, in a game scheduled to start at 7:05 P.M.
