Eau Claire (WQOW) - For the fourth year, Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP) recipients can get double their dollar at the Eau Claire Downtown Farmers Market to purchase healthy, local food.
Every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from June - September, FoodShare participants may purchase $1 tokens with their QUEST cards. Tokens purchase will be doubled up to $10 each week.
Tokens can be used to purchase food at the farmers market. The tokens never expire and can be used any day the market is open.
Sandy Tarter, Eau Claire County UW-Extension SNAP-Ed Coordinator said, “Although very hidden, one out of five Eau Claire County children live in food insecure households. The Market Match program will help families put additional healthy food on the table. We are ready for another great program year.”
All community members may purchase tokens with a credit or debit card for an additional $1 transaction fee. These funds are used to defray the cost of the point of sale machine used for the program. No transaction fees are charged to FoodShare participants.
