Eau Claire (WQOW) - A Florida man is charged in Eau Claire for placing credit card skimmers at an area gas station.
Henrry Gonzalez Lopez is charged with one felony that carries a maximum penalty of six years in prison.
According to court records, police were called to the Sunoco gas station on Birch Street last August. A pump service employee found the skimmers when he was investigating why a pump wasn't working properly.
Detectives installed an alarm on the pump, which alerted them a week later that the suspects were back to gather information.
Surveillance video showed an SUV drive up to the pump, and then take off when the suspects found their skimming devices were gone.
Records show Lopez rented the car.
He was convicted of using cloned credit cards in New York in 2015.
