Eau Claire (WQOW) - For years, patients at Clearwater Dental stared at a blank, brick wall until an employee there saw it for what it really was - a window of opportunity.
The wall is attached to a Holiday car wash. On the other side is a wall of windows in a room filled with patients.
The marketing director at Clearwater Dental told News 18 they would keep the blinds closed just so patients wouldn't have to look at the eyesore. However, about a year ago, she had the idea to have a mural done.
Luckily, Holiday was on board, and now the artist is putting paint to brick.
"Some of it's on the fly, I won't lie. That's one of the best parts of artistic expression and just be given the freedom to be able to do what you have in your mind and in your heart," said the artist, Ann Oberding. "At the same time, if you can picture like a vintage cutout poster of a particular place, or an adventure, that's kind of the look that I'm going for."
Employees at Clearwater also enjoy watching the work progress.
"Well, I think watching Ann and seeing how it went from a brick wall over the weekend, to now it's primed, and there's paint, and there's color and you can see where it's starting to take shape," said dentist Leslie Spangler.
Oberding, an art teacher at DeLong Middle School, said if all goes well, and the weather cooperates, the mural should be complete in about four to six weeks.
If you want to check out the mural's progress, Clearwater Dental is located at 4237 Southtowne Drive in Eau Claire.
