Willmar (WQOW) -- A late ninth-inning rally wasn't enough, as the Express were handed their sixth straight loss in Willmar.
Facing a one-run deficit in the top of the fifth, Eau Claire got on the board, Garrett Gouldsmith tying the game on an fielding error. The Stingers retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double from Davis Elliot, then added three more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Willmar led 5-1 with one out in the top of the ninth, when the Express started on the comeback trail. Ryan Bishop scored on a wild pitch, then Cody Milligan drove in a pair of runners, as Eau Claire pulled back within one. The Express had runners on the corners, but couldn't plate the tying run, as Phillip Sikes struck out swinging to end the game.
Eau Claire's record now stands at 4-11, with Willmar improving to 8-7. The Express will face the Stingers again, Wednesday, in a game scheduled to start at 7:05 P.M.
