Eau Claire (WQOW) - A local company collaborated to create a tech center for kids who need quality education.
JAMF, an Apple device management company, has teamed up with MATTER, a global health nonprofit, and Modular Life Solutions, a company that builds self-contained shipping modules, to create what they are calling an 'Innovation Pod.'
The pod is a portable classroom including iPads and other educational tools. A pod will arrive in Haiti within the next two weeks, for its mission to help 150 kindergartners.
"This is an example of getting rid of the traditional classroom with nice neat rows, and giving students an opportunity to work creatively in an environment that's positive for them, and also using today's technology to inspire them," said Dave Saltmarsh.
Saltmarsh is headed to Haiti next week to see the pods put to use. Going forward, JAMF leaders hope to put more across the world.
