Eau Claire (WQOW) - After a short briefing, locals could go on a Navy SEAL virtual mission.

The Navy STEM Tour's 'Forged by the Sea' virtual reality experience made it's first Chippewa Valley Air Show appearance. The experience sits inside a 18-wheel vehicle and allows guests to lead a Navy rescue mission.

"When somebody registers, they go inside and it's a full virtual reality set up," said Chief Petty Officer Jason Winn, U.S Navy. "You get a mission briefing where they tell you exactly what you are going to do. You get full virtual reality gear, goggles, a vest and everything else. And you get to experience what it's like to extract a seal team that's taken fire."

The virtual reality experience takes about 15 minutes. Once participants are done with their virtual mission, they receive a debriefing on their performance. Winn said VR helps tell the stories of the Navy, replicating real scenarios and experiences.
