Chippewa Falls (WQOW) -- One day after announcing the departure of Mitch Jacobson, McDonell Central names Ryan Baier as the Macks new head baseball coach.

Baier, a 2012 graduate of McDonell Central, played baseball, basketball, and football for the Macks, prior to attending Minnesota-Duluth for college.  This past season, Baier was with the Chippewa Falls H.S. baseball program, serving as the Cardinals' junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach.

In a statement, Baier says he's excited and thankful for the opportunity to lead the McDonell program.  Macks athletic director Archie Sherbinow says  Baier's energy and enthusiasm will be infectious for the program, adding that McDonell baseball is in good hands.

The Macks job became available with Jacobson moving on to take a teaching position in the River Falls.
