Menomonie (WQOW) - On Tuesday, Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel announced that the School District of the Menomonie Area was awarded $168,808 for improving safety measures in the school district.

The school district received all the money it asked for.

The school safety grant funds will allow the school district to:

  • Install shatter resistant film on primary and secondary entrances and sidelight windows in each of the seven school buildings in the school district,
  • Purchase crisis response kits for building offices and updated emergency flip charts for classrooms,
  • Provide training for staff in the areas of non-violent crisis intervention and trauma informed care,
  • Improve building surveillance systems and extend perimeter fencing at several of the district’s schools.
