UPDATE: Investigators focused on propane boiler and water heater as possible source of Rusk Co. fire

- Sheldon Fire Chief Chad Jones said the cause of the explosion remains under investigation, but investigators have focused on a propane boiler and water heater as possible sources. 

The Sheldon fire chief told News 18 the explosion happened around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday at Reich's Roadhouse in Sheldon.

Seventy firefighters battled the blaze for more than 10 hours before it was extinguished.

Rusk County (WQOW) - Reich's Roadhouse in Sheldon is destroyed after an overnight explosion.

The Sheldon fire chief told News 18 the explosion happened around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The owners, Nick and Joey Reich, and their two young children (ages 3 and 8), lived above the restaurant. Nick told News 18 the explosion was so forceful, he was thrown across the room. 

Everyone was able to escape, with only Nick receiving injuries - minor burns to his hands and face.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. The couple owned the business for 12 years.
