EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - Instead of delving into a story, celebrate with the ones that write them this week, Oct. 24-29 at the Chippewa Valley Book Festival.

The festival kicked-off Sunday afternoon with the 'Young Writers Read Showcase' where various authors from middle and elementary school shared their work.

17 pieces of writing were chosen by the Young Writers Committee.

The authors shared works of poetry, fictional stories and non-fictional narratives.

"Here we can see the beginning of the creator process, that these are the young writers and maybe in a few years, they will appear before us again as established authors," said Irene Lazda, chair of the young writers committee.

The Chippewa Valley Book Festival has events throughout the rest of the week both in-person and virtually.

A full schedule of the programming can be found here.
