EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - After having an interim city manager in position for more than a year, Eau Claire City officials are now in the process of setting a timeline to find a permanent city manager.

So far, the city manager search committee has received 13 applications.

The deadline to apply is Dec. 31, and after a meeting Thursday afternoon, the committee has decided to meet with their consulting firm POLIHIRE before moving forward with developing finalized dates to look at the full list of candidates.

The committee will wait until after their next meeting to create a new selection process, that could include a meet and greet date with the final candidates and the community.

According to city council president Terry Weld, the committee's not looking for just anyone.

"Someone that has the energy and passion to lead this city to the next level, to take us through these next ten years, and how we want that to look, and work, and mindful of our community and the needs that we have and hopefully set the bar high," Weld said.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field with extensive experience in local government management.

Weld said the committee plans to have a permanent city manager by March 1, and has a goal to have a final list of candidates by the end of January.
