MADISON (WKOW) - Governor Tony Evers' climate change task force met for the first time on Thursday in Madison.
Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes is leading the group, which was formed in October.
It's made up of more than 30 people working in industries like agriculture, small business, utilities, and health officials.
Barnes says he wanted to bring people from different backgrounds from across the state to bring their perspective on the issue.
"Making sure we're coming up with responsible solutions that are the benefit to everyone with equity in mind and make sure communities that have been left or the communities that have been the most impacted by climate change, have a say so in the conversation," Barnes said.
The group will meet during the next nine months to come up with policy recommendations to give to Governor Evers.
