Alcohol possible factor in fatal St. Croix County crash

St. Croix County (WQOW) – A man is dead after crashing his truck into a stop sign and power pole in St. Croix County.

According to the sheriff’s office, the crash happened Saturday morning around 12:20 on Highway 12 at Bridge Avenue, in the Town of Baldwin.

The sheriff’s office said Scott Gossel, 36, from Wilson was eastbound on 12 when he entered the ditch, went over Bridge Avenue and hit a stop sign and power pole.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gossel was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol is a possible factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

This is St. Croix County’s first fatal crash of the year.
