Eau Claire (WQOW) – We’re still months from Easter, but a local woman is asking for your help so she can help make Easter morning special for kids in our area.
Shauna Hanson runs “Helping Hands for Our Children in the Chippewa Valley“, a group that provides basic needs for kids that otherwise have none.
Hanson told News 18 Easter is not the only holiday they help families during, but it’s the one she’s focusing on next. The group will provide 100 Easter baskets and meals to at least 50 families in need. This will be Hanson’s sixth year doing this.
Hanson said she and her volunteers try to make life a little better for our community’s children.
“The children that would absolutely know that the Easter Bunny did not come to their house that morning, for whatever reason, they don’t have it,” claimed Hanson. “We try to make it so kids that are really counting on this holiday, they get what they need.”
Hanson also said she still needs more baskets and toys, along with ham and potatoes for dinners. There is no set date yet for when they’ll be assembling the baskets, but Hanson said their hoping by late March.
