BARRON COUNTY (WQOW) - A Barron County man is charged with hiding a cellphone to secretly record people using a bathroom where he worked.

Joshua Benson, from Turtle Lake, is charged with using a surveillance device to invade privacy.

On November 13, an employee of the Turtle Lake McDonald's restaurant reported spotting the phone, locked in a cabinet, in the video record mode, and pointing toward the toilet. She said they have had issues in the past with Benson leaving his phone in the bathroom.

Police say Benson admitted setting up the camera, calling himself "a sexual deviant and voyeur".

Benson is free on a signature bond. He returns to court December 14th.
