MADISON (WKOW) -- Republicans and Democrats in the state Senate unanimously approved a bill Wednesday that is aimed at cracking down on catalytic converter theft, which has been an issue statewide.

The bill requires scrap dealers to see an ID for someone trying to sell a converter, which is valuable because of the metals it contains.

Dealers would need to save the information on the seller's ID, as well as other details from the sale.
